Freight brokerages closures accelerated again YoY in March 2024 at (10.6%). There are now 27,450 freight brokerages with active MC numbers compared to 27,864 one month ago. 

Thanks to Alex Schick from Alliance Logistix for posing the question of how many freight brokerages would we expect with a normal trend line as opposed to the crazy pandemic growth and crash. Starting in January 2017 with 21,229 freight brokerages at a 6% annual growth rate we should expect 27,377 freight brokerages to be active today. Which is pretty well spot on to the 27,450 number for March 2024. 

It will be interesting to see how far this current pullback goes before we find a floor.
