What’s the typical employee size of the largest 1,000 freight brokerages?

What’s the headcount for the largest 1,000 freight brokerages? At the brokerage level we can come up with mean (avg) and median estimates for the brokerage operations for these firms.

One of the most difficult and tedious parts of the analysis is to separate brokerage divisions from larger organizations. The vast majority of these cases are with brokerages that are included in the parent company of asset-based fleets. The remaining are smaller domestic brokerage units of large international freight forwarding companies.

What we find is a range of median employee sizes of 1,350 for brokerages doing over a $1b in annual gross revenue to 25 employees for the Growth-Cap freight brokerages doing anywhere from $10m to $49m a year in gross revenue.
