Let’s start with this disclaimer: determining freight brokerage job trends using LinkedIn profiles is not an exact science.
One of the main reasons is that quite a few of the largest 1,000 freight brokerages are part of larger asset based companies. Seperating brokerage employess from other divisions is a longer-term project.
What LinkedIn shows though, even with the all the news of layoffs, is a 7.1% increase in headcount at the largest 1,000 freight brokerages from December 2022 to December 2023. It’s a surprising stat for most.

This includes 327 brokerages with at least 10% growth in headcount, countered by 73 freight brokerages with 10% or more in reductions.
Employee counts with one and two year growth rates will be available to download for our Unlimited Data Export subscribers on Tuesday December 12th.
