In a recent post we explored TMS usage for freight brokerages doing over $50m a year in gross revenue. Today let’s look at the 650 or so freight brokerages doing between $10m to $50m a year gross.
It’s interesting to note the rankings between the two groups. Especially once you get to the middle of list. Lots of aggressive TMS startups out there challenging market leaders.
Another interesting bit of info is that while the top 10 TMS’s account for 72% of this segment, the remaining 28% of market share is divided up between 47 other TMS companies.
This compares to 36 different TMS companies used by brokerages with over $50m in annual gross revenue.

So what does this tell us?
Since integrations are essential for freight tech to succeed, it’s important to note where to devote your time based on market share.
It’s also important to note which TMS companies are building motemum and racking up wins.
From there it is all about creating demand by targeting the client base of specific TMS companies. Like any business TMS integrations are driven by clients. The more chatter you can create within their customer base, the better chance you have with shortening the timeline.
The faster you get online with integrations, the more momentum you’ll build as you see your sales velocity grow.
