📉 Freight brokerage contraction continues…

Despite a slight uptick in closures during March 2025, the year-over-year contraction rate for freight brokerages is still easing. Compared to March 2024 there are -8.6% fewer brokerages.

🚫 Net change in active brokerages last month: -132
✅ Total active MCs as of April 1: 25,087

Over the past four years, growth in the brokerage space has essentially plateaued—today there are just 1.3% more active freight brokerages than in April 2021.

Here’s hoping the next turn in the cycle is around the corner has the legs to last.
